New Mediums – Paint. Draw. Blend.

We have just introduced 5 new PanPastel Mediums. These are the world’s first true pastel (dry color) mediums.

What Are Mediums? Mediums are additives that alter how colors work, extending the techniques and finished effects that are possible.

The new PanPastel Mediums are – Colorless Blender, Pearl White (Fine & Coarse) and Pearl Black (Fine & Coarse). The new mediums have all the characteristics of PanPastel Colors, they are mixable, erasable, low dust, lightfast and professional artist’s quality.

COLORLESS BLENDER

Introducing the first Colorless Blender for soft pastels. The PanPastel Colorless Blender is a medium that can be used for a variety of new effects including increasing transparency and enhancing color “flow”.

Using The Colorless Blender
Use the Colorless Blender to create transparent effects with PanPastel Colors. The image below shows how you can use the Colorless Blender to create a transparent effect without changing the hue of the pigment. By comparison, when using PanPastel White with the same color (Permanent Red 340.5) the effect is very different – white will tint the color, changing the final effect and making the color more opaque. Unlike the Colorless Blender which made it more transparent and retained the hue.

It can be used before color is applied (under the color), or mixed with the color after it is applied. More information can be found here: COLORLESS BLENDER

PEARL MEDIUMS
PanPastel Pearl Mediums add a pearlescent sheen / shimmer which changes depending on the angle it is viewed from, this also creates dimension. The Pearl Mediums can be mixed with PanPastel Colors for custom pearlescent colors or used on their own for mixed media.

PanPastel Pearl Medium – White Create your own custom pearlescent colors by mixing the White Pearl Mediums with PanPastel Colors, to tint colors and add a soft pearlescent sheen. (Image below shows Turquoise with Pearl Medium White)

PanPastel Pearl Medium – Black Mix the Black Pearl Mediums with PanPastel Colors to create shimmering darks and shades for rich, jewel-like effects. Each white and black medium is available in fine and coarse.

FINE – Contains smaller particles to create a soft and subtle pearl sheen.
COARSE – Contains larger particles to create a more shimmering sparkle.
