Brigitte Waldschmidt

During a recent trade show in Germany we were delighted to reconnect with artist Brigitte Waldschmidt. Brigitte was demonstrating Ampersand panels, using a variety of mixed media techniques. One of her favorites is to add PanPastel color to her mixed media panels, a technique she is demonstrating below.

First Brigitte creates texture on the EncausticBord panels using Schmincke Structure Paste and mylar sheets, then she applies layers of color using a combination of inks, acrylics, and PanPastel for the final layers. Brigitte says that she absolutely loves how you can easily add transparent layers of vibrant color with PanPastel and also add subtle shimmer by applying light layers of the PanPastel metallics and pearlescent mediums. As you can see above the effects are very impressive.
